Welcome to VT/NH MG

Welcome to the VT/NH Marketing Group. The VT/NH MG is a not for profit membership organization providing education and management information to the direct marketing industry in Vermont, New Hampshire, and states beyond. We offer networking and affordable education to every member, at every level of your company. For our vendor members we offer education, networking, exhibiting, and sponsorship opportunities.

We invite you to peruse our website and if you know anyone at a member company ask them to invite you to a seminar, as their free guest and get to know us. We guarantee you won't be disappointed.

About Us

Our directors are a dedicated group of business people who, like yourself, were at one time searching for opportunities to gather with like business people to network and learn tactics to grow their business. They found that our smaller and more personalized networking situations were more productive than what some of the larger direct marketing organizations had to offer. We have a diverse membership with many of New England's largest direct marketers - people like Gardener's Supply, The Orvis Company, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Littleton Coin Company, and Vermont Country Store, but our focus is on the small and mid-size entrepreneurial companies, many of which are young start ups. We pride ourselves on offering educational information for every level employee within every size company.

As a not-for-profit educational and networking organization of direct marketing professionals, we work hard to keep the costs of membership low and the rewards for participation high. We look forward you having you with us.

VT/NH Member, Tom Funk Publishes First Book

VT/NH  Marketing Group member Tom Funk, of Timberline Interactive, has written his first book. Entitled Web 2.0 & Beyond: Understanding the New Online Business Models, Trends, and Technologies, it was published November 2008 by Praeger Publishers.

Excerpt from book….

"Web 2.0" has taken on buzzword status. It’s being applied as shorthand for everything that is new, cutting-edge, and gaining momentum online.
Web 2.0 can describe particular websites, cultural trends like social networking, blogging or podcasting, or the underlying technology and rich, streaming media that makes today’s coolest web applications possible.

As with any buzzword, the hype can be a tad overdone. For one thing, Web 2.0 isn’t especially new. But today, many of its technologies and best practices have moved within the reach and budget of any online business.

What are the major themes of Web 2.0?

1. Power is in the hands of individual users and their networks.
2. Web content is distributed, sorted, combined, and displayed across the web in formats unanticipated by the content creators.
3. New technology now makes rich online experiences and complex software applications possible.
4. Integration is breaking down walls between PCs, phones and mobile devices, marketing and ordering channels, and a user’s experience across different websites.

“Funk outlines the latest emerging technologies on the Web, and offers readers the Ten Things You Should Do to Make Your Business More "Web 2.0." This highly accessible guide provides the latest information on the most popular activities on the Web; new ways to market, attract customers, and keep your Web site vibrant; and ways to protect yourself from the growing menace of cybercrime.” – Booklist

Understanding how to implement Web 2.0 will be crucial to the success of any Internet enterprise and Tom Funk offers a clear, compelling, non- technical and easy-to-understand guide to implementing and benefiting from Web 2.0."
-- Kurt Peters, Editor in Chief, Internet Retailer      The book is available through Amazon

The VT/NH MG congratulates Tom on the success of his book. The first printing has sold out and a second printing is now in process.
